While working on my future daughter-in-law's genealogy...hi, Jessica!...I ran up to the end of a French line, where French genealogists often just put *Surname Ancêtre* in the father's box as a placeholder to indicate that nothing further is known about that line at this time.
Only, this time, the name was:
Parent Ancêtre
